THE BIG PUSH!

I'm trying to really step up the game and start getting some notoriety for my art projects. I'm synchronizing a lot of projects and creating what I call The Big Push. The Big Push's goal will be simply to sell my artwork and get some recognition, connections and hopefully some added income.

Step one of The Big Push was the creation of the Etsy store which will be the front lines of selling anything that I create which can be sent through the mail.

I'm also creating a series of business cards and post cards trough: Moo to once again draw all eyes to the shop.

If all goes well. I should be in a good position expand into even more areas including publishing and T-shirt printing. But first, baby steps.

Last year, I decorated the house with an Alien theme. This year I decided to go with another fear theme: paranoia. I covered the house in eyes. Big ones made of paper mache and little ones made out of white balloons. I'm hoping that the little ones don't pop before Halloween is over. It seems, whatever I throw up for decorations, the weather always kicks in with something that's going to try to ruin it. Last year it was lots of rain, this year it's wind which is trying it's best to ruin the streamer dripping blood effect on the garage. I guess that's the price of art installations, they're always a product of their environment. You can either work with the environment or pay the price for ignorin it.

The eye in the front yard has a hidden wire holding it up, creating a floating eye effect.

I've added yet another store to my empire. Besides selling my iHate Art shirts at Cafe Press, this time on Etsy where I will try to sell any 3 dimensional art I create. First thing out of the gate will be my hand-painted plastic honey jars. I'm going to sell them for $20 and see how that goes. Here's the link: Etsy

iMac Sphere

I love my Apple mac computers. If you are an artist I have no idea why you would have a PC. A PC is for spread sheets and cash registers.

My first computer cost about $400 and had 4k of memory. That's right 4k. My next one was a whopping 64 K, Next 128 megs, 4 gigs and now 300 gigs. I'm sure the next generation will be in teraflops and my kid's computer will deal in Petabytes and then Exabytes.

My first computer also had a keyboard and processor in the same unit and a roller-ball mouse. Now we have wireless keyboards and mice. In the future we will have a wireless monitor and eventually a keyboard less computer. I also predict everything in our house, from TV to phone to heating control will all be controlled by a small unit.

New Wall Art

I've completed two new art pieces.

The first. I'm calling Pow! Boom! Zap! Painted water guns on canvas. It's a representation of 1950's comics and old time science fiction serials. I think I'm going to sell it on some Etsy shop or eBay thing. Whichever brings in more dough.

The second painting is called Internal Eternal Flame; Acrylic, wood on canvas. It's basically a representation of never giving up and that spirit inside of you that doesn't go out, in spite of life's "weather conditions." It came out like an Olympic torch so I don't know if anyone will see beyond that. It's going to hang in the bedroom as part of a redecoration scheme, unless of course I can sell it too. I'm kind of fond of it so I'm not going to let it go cheap.

ALIEN HOUSE

Last year, I decorated our house with giant, paper maché spiders. Due to the van-loads of children that showed up, I took this to mean that it was a success. This year, I decided to go with another theme that scares the hell out of people: Aliens, as in the movie. I planned this for at least 3 months, in my head and constructed them in about a month out of paper maché, garbage bags , sticks and paint.

We have them on the garage, over the entrance and even an Alien queen, guarding some eggs.

One of the eggs has a face hugger coming out of it, ready to nab an unlucky trick or treater. On Halloween, I plan to have strobe lights on them as well.

Projects and Progress

Thank you for visiting the Rabbit Studios blog. This page is to inform you of any art related projects that I'm working on.

First up, I'm still trying to beat the Christmas deadline for the science fiction, animated movie: FARM
Things got slowed down because of weddings, traveling and the flu (life happens). But I think I may be able to do it by January.

I'm also working more in traditional (2-D) animation and have created a project called 1 day animation, where the goal is to do an entire animation, from start to finish in only one day.
Here is the first cartoon called "Ouch Schmouch".

A new episode of Catholics on the Moon, the story of Billy Jean (Bill) and Samantha (Sam), two school girls who have a misguided stalwart faith in Catholicism, is also in the works, which will have something to do with the Devil.

Another 2-D project, to be titled "Sucker!" Or "Evil to-do List" is also in the works and involves an evil do-ers quest to complete a list of bad things.

In the "real art" world, I'm trying to finish yet another painting involving eucalyptus bark and acrylic paint. All I have to do is finish the background. I'm also experimenting with balsa wood and making a tiny house. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I guess this is all part of the fine art process.

Eventually, I want to make some fine art to go up on E-Bay, but I don't like the prices that things are going for now-days, unlike the late 90's . It's definitely a buyers market and I may wait a while until people want to spend money on art.

I've opened a store on Cafe Press to sell some junk that I create. I'm thinking of humorous T-shirts as well as some images from FARM to use as advertisements. As of this writing, you can get the official: iHate Art shirts, based on my blog: iHate Art
